Chester Mr. Maurice Eddie Grant, 72, died Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Piedmont Medical Center.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Capers Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Bryson Williams, Rev. Michael Shaffer and Rev. Justin Ford officiating.Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, September 7, at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, SC. Mr. Grant was born March 15, 1946 in Chester, SC and was a son of the late Maurice Grant and Bessie Broughton Grant.He was a graduate of Chester High School and had perfect attendance for his entire 12 years.Mr. Grant was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during Vietnam and was retired from A&P Grocery store.He was a member of Capers Chapel United Methodist Church and the Chester Highland Ruritans. He is survived by three children, Dwayne Grant (Gina) of Union, Kevin Grant (Tracey) of Chester and Brian Grant (Joann) of Chester; four grandchildren, Caitlin Grant of Union, Regan Grant of Chester, Daniel Grant of Union and Bryson Grant of Chester; one sister, Geneva McCraw (Steve) of Spartanburg; his caretaker and niece, Shirley Palmer of Chester; and numerous other nieces and nephews.Mr. Grant was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Linda Dodds Grant; two brothers, Pete Grant and Donald Grant; and two sisters, Betty Church and Estelle Cooper.
