CHESTER Mrs. Mary Jo Turner Stone,83, died Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the Chester Regional Nursing Center.A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Purity Presbyterian Church with Rev. Trey Hegar officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 ? 3:00 PMTuesday in Purity Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. Born March 15, 1928 in Spartanburg, SC, Mrs. Stone was the daughter of the late Wales T.and Pauline Rogers Turner.She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, Converse College and Winthrop College.She was a volunteer at Chester Regional Medical Center for over thirty-five years.Mrs. Stone was a charter member of Mid-Century Study Club, former Den Mother for Troop #62, sponsor for the Boys & Girls Club and enjoyed supporting numerous charities through grateful giving.She was former Woman of the Year for Chester County Jaycees.She was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty-six years, Dr. Halsted M. Stone, Sr.. She is survived by two sons, Halsted M. ?Hal? Stone, Jr. and Dr. Samuel R. ?Sam? Stone and his wife Beverly all of Chester; two grandsons, Marcus M. Stone and his wife Pam and Peter R. Stone and his wife Devon all of Chester; one great grandchild, Olivia P. Stone of Chester; a faithful friend of fifty-eight years, Emma McCullough of Chester; one nephew, Samuel L. Turner, Jr. and one niece Cynthia T. Groo both of Colorado.
