On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, Mary Gregory Henderson passed away at the age of 84 at Lakewood Senior Living.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Wilksburg Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Wilksburg Baptist Church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Wilksburg Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Henderson was born in Chester, South Carolina on May 16th, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Otis and Josie (Melton) Gregory.Mary was a graduate of Chester High School. and was retired from Springs Industries, Chester, SC. She was an active member of Wilksburg Baptist Church throughout her life, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the Church choir, was involved with the yearly vacation bible school activities and was always helping with whatever the church needs required. Mary and her sisters were well known for knowing their way around the kitchen and serving others in the church. She enjoyed joining her husband ,Albert at various performances at nursing homes, churches and community centers to watch as the numerous singing groups Albert was a part of witnessed to others. Mary loved her family and her community and will be missed by everyone she touched.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Albert Henderson, her step-mother, Massie Gregory, two sisters, Doris Ferrell and Frances Gregory and her brothers, David Gregory and R.M. Melton
She is survived by her one daughter, Robin Getz (Alan) of Inman, SC; one grandchild, Amber Price (Chris) of Greenville, SC; two great grandchildren, DeLaney and Amalia Price and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to Crystal Melton , Vicki Fairfax and Pam Rawls of Chester SC who were special friends , caregivers and family to Mary and to the staff of Lakewood Senior Living and Gentiva Hospice.
