Mrs. Mary Louise Romanstine Grant died on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 in Marietta, Georgia, at the age 91.Born in Columbia, SC, Mrs. Grant was the youngest and last surviving of three children born to Francis C. and Lucy Marsh Romanstine.A graduate of Columbia College with degrees in music and languages and two Masters Degrees from the University of West Georgia, she spent most of her working career in the education field as a teacher.Mrs. Grant taught at several schools in South Carolina and Georgia retiring from Cobb County Georgia Schools where she taught for more than 20 years.In addition to teaching in the public school systems, many young people benefited from her 60 years of private piano and organ instruction.She was also very active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, where she held various state and national offices.Mrs. Grant served as a church organist and choir director in numerous churches over her years and was a charter member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Marietta.She was a very gifted and talented person who readily shared with family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, William G. Grant of Chester, SC.The Grants were long term residents of Rock Hill and Greer, SC prior to their move to Marietta in 1962. Mary Louise is survived by three children, sons William G. Grant, Jr. of Charlotte, NC and Francis R. Grant of St. Augustine, FL, and daughter Lucy G. Baines of Austell, GA; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A service will be held 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dana Overton-Garrett of St. Paul United Methodist Church officiating.Visitation will follow the service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Armenia United Methodist Church, 2840 Armenia Road, Chester, SC 29706, with Reverend Michael Shaffer officiating.A visitation will be held immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie Street, Chester, SC is in charge of the graveside service. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
