Columbia Mrs. Mary G. Contos, 91, died Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Chester Regional Nursing Center.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 18, at Barron Funeral Home.Interment will follow in Wilksburg BaptistChurch Cemetery.A Trisagion and visitation will be held on Friday, June 17, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, SC. Mrs. Contos was born September 24, 1924 in Karytsa, Greece and was a daughter of the late John Nicholas Caras and Vasiliki Panagiotopoulos and the widow of George Theodore Contos.She attended the schools of Karytsa, Greece and worked most of her life as a seamstress.Mrs. Contos was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Columbia. She is survived by one son, Ted Contos (Marcia) of Columbia; one daughter, Cathy Poulos (Gus) of Chester; four grandchildren. Timi and Spiro Poulos and George and Mariana Contos; and one brother, James Caras of Atlanta, Ga.Mrs. Contos was preceded in death by two brothers, Nick Caras and Gus Caras and a sister, Aliki Tsiros.
