Born on March 2, 1942 in Lawford, WV, and raised in Coxs Mills, WV, he was the son of the late Glendell "Port" Adams and Mary "Jack" Olevah Wright Adams.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Amanda; a son, Randy Adams of Ft. Mill, SC; a daughter, Tammy Warren (fiancé, Todd McGee) of Concord, NC; a special daughter, Tara Sykes (Ryan) of Myrtle Beach, SC; two Bonus sons, Chad Channell (Shelley) of Lancaster, SC and Kevin Channell of Charlotte, NC. His greatest joy came from his grandchildren, Alisha (Darryl), Joey (Amalia), Randi, Kasey, Ryanne, Lydia, and Lucas and also his great grandchildren Shyan, Lyla, Pyper, Sutton, Hannah, Emily, and David. He was called many names by so many children, like PaPaw, Pepa, PaPa, Poppy, and G. They were the highlight of his life! He cherished every moment with them. He is also survived by a special niece, Connie Smith Ham and a brother-in-law, Bob Miller.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Jean Adams; his sister, Sharilyn Miller and his brother, Larry Adams.
He believed in hard work, honesty, and doing right by others. He was known for his since of humor, his gift of storytelling and had a very comical demeanor. He felt a man’s word was his integrity. He could fix and build anything but a broken heart, a jack of all trades and a master of all. A few of his sayings was: "opinions are like butt holes everybody has one", "there is no such thing as good luck or bad luck, it’s just life", "when you think you have it bad someone else has it worse", and "every day is a good day but some are worse than others". If you ask him how he was, he’d say "I’m fine but I’ll get over it".
A man like Marvin does not fade. The values he instilled through a lifetime of experience, we will carry always. He lives on in the family he built, the lives he touched and the love that will forever carry his name.
