Martha Wylie McGarity CHESTER: Mrs. Martha Wylie McGarity, 92, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Trident Hospital in North Charleston, SC. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Matt Horne officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Born February 27, 1916 in Chester County, Mrs. McGarity was a daughter of the late James A. and Lula L. Wylie.She was a graduate of Blackstock High School and was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star in Summerville, SC.Mrs. McGarity worked as a LPN in Victorville, California, a bookkeeper for Piggly Wiggly, and also as a housemother for Thornwell Children?s Home in Clinton, SC.She enjoyed reading, flower gardening, and baking. She was the widow of Andrew Boyd McGarity. Surviving are her son, Andrew ?Buck? McGarity of Summerville, SC; grandchildren, Michelle Dunton, Melissa McGarity and Drew McGarity; four great grandchildren all of California; and a sister, Marie McDaniel of Blackstock, SC.
