Marjorie Irene MacPherson “Mickey” Whitesides, 78, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 surrounded by her loved ones at her home. Funeral Services and interment will be private and held at a later date inJacksonville Community Cemetery in Jacksonville, VT. Born November 6, 1934 in Providence, Rhode Island, Ms. Whitesides was the daughter of the late Claude Merril MacPherson and Estella Irene Herring MacPherson.She was a graduate of the schools of Providence, Rhode Island, the University of Oklahoma and Mitchell College for women.She served three tours in the United States Navy during 1953 through 1954 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Ms. Whitesides is lovingly remembered by her children, Bill DeWeese of Asheville, NC, Cathy Ashley of York, SC, Claudette “Gus” Fox of Piedmont, SC, Janice Leford of Chester, SC, Nancy Allison of Rock Hill, SC; eight grandchildren, Jeremy DeWeese, Brad Lackey, Kristen Ashley, Sandra Dill, O’Neale Atkinson, DJ Hartman, Justina Cobb and Jennie Allison; four great-great grandchildren; niece, Mary Jane Scheller; nephews, Richard MacPherson, Bill MacPherson and Rob MacPherson.In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a brother George William “Bill” MacPherson.
