Blackstock Mr. Marion Dale Roddey, 80, died Monday, October 8, 2012 at Chester RegionalMedical Center.A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Hinson officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service. Mr. Roddey was born September 19, 1932 in Chester and was a son of the late Paul Marion Roddey and Mary Irene Hardin Roddey.He attended the schools of Chester County, served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean war, and was a member of Sandy River Masonic Lodge #277.Mr. Roddey retired from residential construction and also pastored several local churches.He was a member of Woodward Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nell Virginia Culp Roddey; four daughters, Linda R. Montgomery and husband Tim of Chester, Jean R. Hipp and husband Billy of Richburg, Helen Roddey of Chester, and Ellen R. Hunter and husband Mark of Chester; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Neal Roddey and wife Joan of Chester; and one sister, Nan R. Roberts and husband Harold of Chester.He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Mobley. Memorials may be made to Woodward Baptist Church “Food Bank”, 1570 Ashford Rd., Chester, SC 29706.
