CHESTER, SC: Mr. Marion Eugene Johnson, Jr., 70, died Sunday, September 03, 2017 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC.The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Zion Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Zion Presbyterian Church with Rev. Al Ward officiating.The interment will be in Zion Cemetery. Born June 23, 1947 in Chester, SC, Mr. Johnson was a son of the late Marion E. Johnson, Sr. and Eugenia Hall Johnson.He was a graduate of Chester High School and Miami University, Miami, FL.Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Korea.He was retired from Federal Express as a Line Haul Manager and was a former Florida State Trooper. Mr. Johnson was a member of First Baptist Church Lowrys and was currently serving on the Lowrys City Council. He is survived by his wife of forty-five years Pamela (Hable) Johnson; one daughter, Christina Varnadore (Ira) of Chester; one grandson, Kaden Varnadore of Chester; one brother, Andrew E. Johnson (Dianne) of Chester; one niece, Shannon Carpenter (Eric) of Charlotte, NC; one nephew, Robert Andrew “Drew” Johnson of Chester and one great nephew, Benjamin Carpenter of Charlotte, NC.
