Chester Mrs. Mariam Clair Ashour Benzel McFalls, 89, died Sunday, August 15, 2021, at her home.All services will be private. Mrs. McFalls was born May 11, 1932 in Nashville, Tennessee and was a daughter of the late Ali Hasset Ashour and Thelma Nicholson Ashour.She was a graduate of Walton High School, Bronx, NY, University of Maryland in Naha, Okinawa and attended Realtors Institute at the University of North Carolina.Mrs. McFalls was a retired real estate broker and general contractor with McFalls & Associates Realty, Inc. in Pineville, NC.She was the first licensed woman carpenter in NC and had her own real estate corporation for over 48 years.She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Blackstock. She is survived by one son, Dale Benzel (Laurie) of Van Wyck, SC; two daughters, Donna Messenger (Bruce) of Greensboro, NC and Rickey Wages (Hal) of Chester, SC; two brothers, Samy Ashour and Slim Ashour both of Tunisia, N. Africa; and numerous nieces and nephews.Mrs. McFalls was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Dale Benzel and a son, Richard Dale Benzel, II. Memorials may be made to Mt.
