Margaret Carolyn Knox Locke, 84, born February 14, 1941, passed away on February 20, 2025. Carolyn’s funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, February 24, 2025 at Union ARP Church in Richburg, SC. Visitation with the family will be held in the sanctuary of the church following the burial. Carolyn was the daughter of the late Ira W. Knox, Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth Proctor Knox. She was the granddaughter of Franklin Wylie Knox and Mary Caroline Proctor Knox on her father’s side and William George Proctor and Agnes Viola McGarity Proctor on her mother’s side. She is survived by her two children, Dean Locke Jackson (Steve) and Tommy Wesley Locke (Marsha) and three grandchildren, Jordan Locke (Sara), Julie Locke Chapmon (Bryson) and Margo Jackson. She is preceded in death by her husband, of 63 years, Jerry Locke and her brother Ira (Bubba) Knox, Jr. Carolyn was born in Chester at Pryor Hospital and grew up in the Knox Station community. She graduated from Oakley Hall Elementary School and Lewisville High School. She was a proud member of the Lewisville HS Girls Basketball team who won the State title in 1959 and that team was later inducted into the Lewisville Hall of Fame. Carolyn worked for a few years as a cashier clerk at the A&P Food Store, K-Mart and Carowinds. She spent most of her years as a homemaker cooking wonderful meals, taking care of her family and getting involved in a variety of school and community organizations. Some of her community activities included Brownie Scouts, Recycle Committee, Red Hat Ladies of Richburg, Pleasant Grove UMC, Union ARP Church and she was treasurer at the Rodman Community Center. Carolyn got into clogging with her husband, traveling and competing with a clogging team. She and Jerry formed a camping group called “The Beach Bunch” who traveled the east coast and Hawaii. They also enjoyed going on vacation tours. In later years, her joy has been time spent with her grandchildren, Jordan, Julie and Margo watching them excel in school, band, music and sports.
