Lynda Lawing Mixon

Mrs. Lynda Lawing Mixon, 72, died Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Wilksburg Baptist Church with Rev. Cecil Johnson officiating.The interment will be in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at Barron Funeral Home. Born April 4, 1940 in Charlotte, NC, Mrs. Mixon was a daughter of the late Luther M. and Mildred Helms Lawing.She was a 1958 graduate of Central High School in Charlotte and retired from Carolina Tire after twenty-five years.She worked part-time at the Chester YMCA and was a member of Wilksburg Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years Sammy Lee Mixon; one son, Sammy L. Mixon, II and his wife Tammy of Chester; two daughters, Kim Mobley of Fort Lawn and Mica Nichols of Chester; six grandchildren, Michael Billings and his wife Ashley of Lancaster, Kelly Mathews and her husband Todd of Chester, Josh Billings of Lancaster, Ashley Mixon of Chester, Jacob Bennett of Rock Hill and Haven Bennett of Chester; two great grandchildren, Matthew Billings of Lancaster and Brandon Martin of Chester; son-in-law Larry Nichols of Chester; one sister, Dorothy L. West and her husband William of North Carolina.She was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Lawing. Memorials may be made to Wilksburg Baptist Church, 3121 Pinckney Road, Chester, SC 29706.
