CHESTER: Mrs. Lucy Walton Woods Weir, 82, died Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Chester Regional Nursing Center.The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, December 15, 2014 at New Hope United Methodist Church with Reverend Page Wheeler and Mr. Wayne Gregory officiating.The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Barron Funeral Home and other times at the home of Jody and Angie Weir. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Born January 9, 1932 in York County, SC, Mrs. Weir was a daughter of the late Perry Woods and Virginia Porter Woods.She attended the schools of Chester County and was formerly employed with West Chester School Cafeteria and McCrorey’s Dime Store.Mrs. Weir was a lifelong dedicated member of New Hope United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of United Methodist Women. She was the widow of James Lester “Red” Weir. She is survived by one son, James Virgil “Jody” Weir (Angie) of Chester, SC; two daughters, Judieth Ann McLean (Daniel, III) of Denver, NC and Virginia Lynn “Ginny” Weir Thomas (Jason) of Chester; one grandson, Richard S. Talbert and one granddaughter, Atha Kay Weir both of Chester, SC and a great-granddaughter, Shyann Tennant of Union, SC her two granddogs, Dixie and Piper.
