Lucius David Stevenson, Jr.

Mr. Lucius David Stevenson, 86, passed away Monday, December 30, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Cool Branch Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Cool Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM also Thursday at the church. Mr. Stevenson was born February 10, 1938, in Fairfield County and was the son of the late Lucius David Stevenson, Sr. and Margaret Boulware Stevenson. David loved his family and was devoted to his church. He was the second oldest member of Cool Branch Baptist Church and previously served on the Deacon Board. David never met a stranger and could carry on a conversation with anyone. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called him Papa. He was often referred to as Red, Cuz, and Mr. David and was simply a joy to be around. He was usually smiling or laughing and was always ready to sit down for a good home cooked meal. He was an avid South Carolina fan and wore his Gamecock hat most everywhere he went. He was a very special man and will be missed dearly by his family, friends, and neighbors. He is survived by his wife Mary Jane Stevenson, his children David Christopher Stevenson, Laura Denise Stevenson, Jeffrey Scott Stevenson (Lesley) and his stepdaughter, Paula Oates (Danny); grandsons, Ryan Oates (Malee), Austin Stevenson (Ashley), Preston Stevenson (Sage) and great-grandchildren Watson Oates, Mills Oates and Holland Stevenson.
