Chester:Lillie Elizabeth Stephenson Steen, 80, died Monday, September 19, 2011 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC. A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Armenia United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Michael Shaffer officiating. A celebration of Life service will immediately follow in First Baptist Church of Lowry?s. The family will receive friends Wednesday September 21, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barron Funeral Home. Mrs. Steen was born April 27, 1931 in Chester, SC,a daughter of the late Walter H.Stephenson and Ruth Brown Stephenson. She was a graduate of Chester High School and attended York Technical College. Mrs. Steen was retired from Springs Industries as a timekeeper and also worked as a seamstress and with Clemson Extension. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church,Lowry?s where she was WMU director for over fifty years and director of the nursery as well as having served on numerous committees within the church. Mrs. Steen was an avid cook and used this talent as an avenue to minister Christ to others. Mrs. Steen is survived by her husband of over sixty three years, Walter Mack Steen; one daughter, Joanne Steen McNeil and one son, Thomas L. Steen and his wife Darlene all of Chester, SC; four grandchildren, Carrie Steen Ancira and her husband Adam of Sugarland, TX, Chase Steen and his wife,Crissy of Rock Hill, SC, Lindsey Steen Smith and her husband Jason and Kaelah McNeil Tellegman and her husband John all of Chester, SC; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Avon lee Stephenson of Columbia, SC and her daughter-in-law Rose Steen of East Bernard, TX. She was preceded in death by her son, Donnie Andrew Steen, nine brothers, one sister and a special niece Jane Stephenson Walsh. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the community of Lowry?s for their loving care and thoughtfulness and also to Hospice and Community of Rock Hill for their expressions of kindness and Patsy Brantley and Jeanette Thomas for their tireless devotion.
