Lillie Mae Holmes

Chester, SC: Lillie Mae Childers Holmes, 87, died Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital. A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Chester Memorial Gardens.with Reverend Michael Shaffer officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service. Mrs Holmes was born on March 26, 1935 in Lockhart, SC and was a daughter of the late Ben and Mabel Childers. She was a graduate of Lockhart High School and was retired from Springs Industries, Eureka Plant. She was a member of Lockhart Church of God before she moved to Chester. After her children were grown and had families of their own, Lille Mae enjoyed her trips to the beauty shop every Friday and was also a regular at the local McDonald's in the morning and Wendy's in the evening where she would meet her friends and many times treat them to a meal. She loved being with people. She was a huge NASCAR fan and according to Lillie Mae, Jeff Gordon and Richard Petty were the best. She also enjoyed watching old cowboy movies and her soap operas. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of over fifty-six years, Fred William Holmes, Sr. and her son, Fred William Holmes, Jr. ;her daughter,Teresa Kay Holmes and her daughter-in-law, Tina Bedenbaugh Holmes. She is survived by her daughter, Frances Darlene Holmes Elkins of Chester, SC and her son, Roger Dale Holmes of Richburg, SC; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
