Chester Mr. Lawrence Alvin Robinson, 79, died Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Piedmont Medical Center.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 26, at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Bishop officiating.Interment will be private.The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Sunday, January 26, at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, SC. Mr. Robinson was born January 29, 1940 in Chester, SC and was a son of the late John Stoy Robinson and Minnie Lee Broome Robinson.He attended the schools of Chester County and was a former member of the South Carolina Army National Guard.Mr. Robinson was retired from Springs Industries.Alvin was a Mason and a Hejaz Shriner.He was also quite involved with the Boy Scouts when his children were younger.Alvin was a member of Chester Freedom Ministries. He is survived by one son, Lonnie Robinson (Marianna) of Shelby, NC; four grandchildren, Joshua Robinson of Chesapeake, VA, Kristin Robinson of Gastonia, NC, Renee Robinson of Charlotte, NC and Allison Robinson of Gastonia, NC; six great grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, Glenn Robinson (Molly) of Chester, SC; a sister, Joyce Hinson (Jimmy) of Chester, SC; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Blonnie Robinson and Shirley Vinson both of Chester, SC.Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Phillips Robinson; a son, DeLynn Robinson; three brothers and two sisters.
