Columbia Mr. Kenneth Cameron Bumgarner, 96, died Wednesday, October 18, 2017in Columbia, SC.A funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Chester, SC with Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating.Interment will follow at Chester Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM to 2:20 PM on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Chester, SC. Born December 12, 1920 in Belmont, NC, he was a son of the late Robert C. Bumgarner and Madge Gaston Bumgarner. Mr. Bumgarner served in the U. S. Navy on theUSS Mt Olympus during WWII and retired from Insurance sales.He was an active member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years.He was an avid South Carolina Gamecock and Atlanta Braves fan.He loved spending time with his family, dancing, tailgating, and vacationing at the beach.He was very active into his nineties. Mr. Bumgarner was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Messick Bumgarner; and daughter, Brenda Bumgarner Miller.He is survived by one son, Randy Bumgarner of Columbia, SC;one daughter, Sherrie Bumgarner Boston (Ronnie) of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren, Bridget Mathis Carter of Columbia, SC, Toni Mathis (“Doc”) Davis of Lexington, SC, Sydney Bumgarner of Columbia, SC, and Elizabeth Ayers of Columbia, SC; and four great grandchildren, Cameron Lee Carter, Jacob Cameron, Isabel Burroughs, and Eli Burroughs.
