Kathryn Ann Swem Grant

Chester Surrounded by the devotion of her family and comforted by the love of her Savior, Kathryn Ann Swem Grant, 67, of Chester, South Carolina, passed peacefully from this life to journey to her permanent home with Jesus at November 21, 2017. Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 pm on Sunday, November 26, 2017, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Rock Hill, SC and funeral services will follow at 2:30 pm.Burial will take place at Chester Memorial Gardens, Chester, South Carolina after funeral services.Kate was a loving, loyal, and kind wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a Godly woman who loved Jesus since she was six years old. Her family was her pride and joy and she especially loved being Gramma. She cherished spending time with her grandkids, teaching them the Bible using techniques that were fun, innovative, and creative. She always kept arts and crafts ready in Gramma’s hobby room.She very much enjoyed decorating her home with vibrant colors and an eclectic style, using warm and welcoming tones. She thoroughly looked forward to planning and hosting, with much gusto, for the whole family at Thanksgiving and Christmas.Kate was humble, modest, and yet confident in who she was. Her faith defined her. She was an active and involved member of Rock Hill Bible Fellowship Church and was a teacher with CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship) Ministry in their afterschool program.She attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky and graduated from Winthrop University.She was both a private and public school teacher for many years. She had a real passion for seeing children learn, especially in preparation for life, and most especially so as to make theBible to come alive for children. Kate is survived by her husband, Olin D. Grant and seven children: Kim (Hal) Mitchell, Preston Grant, Angela (Eric) Stanley, Travis (Meredith) Swaim, Andrew Swaim, Josh (Patricia) Swaim, Tara (Greg) Schultz and her 22 grandchildren: Brook Lossman-Grant, Allie Mitchell, Matthew Stanley, Joshua Swaim, McCager Mitchell, Sarah Stanley, Elizabeth Swaim, McKenzie Grubb, Banks Mitchell, Micah Stanley, Peyton Grubb, Elijah Stanley, Nathaniel Swaim, Keegan Grubb, Sophie Stanley, Zoe Grubb, Josiah Stanley, Ellie Stanley, Abby Swaim, Emmy Swaim, Adalyn Schultz, Landon Schultz and 1great-grandchild: Carter Wilson.She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Myrtella Swem.The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Kate Grant Scholarship Fund, 766 Grant Lakes Circle, Chester, SC 29706.
