Julius Eugene "Gene" Driver

Mr. Julius Eugene “Gene” Driver, 90, died Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill, SC. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Shannon Higgins and Mr. Jack Kindle officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bethel United Methodist Church. Mr. Driver was born July 18, 1933 in Lancaster, SC and was a son of the late Julius Simpson Driver and Willie Richardson Driver. He was a graduate of Lancaster High School and held an Associate’s Degree through the US Air Force where he was a retired Master Sergeant having served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He also retired from Willamette. Gene was a member of the Gideon’s and the Disabled American Veterans where he was executive office emeritus and chaplain. He held numerous military service awards and decorations including The Bronze Star, Valor Device and The Air and Space Longevity Service Award. Mr. Driver was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where he served on many committees, taught Sunday School, was a Lay Speaker and Usher. He is survived by his wife of over 67 years, Judith Anita Minors Driver; one daughter, Terry Driver Branch (Barry) of Chester, SC; one grandson, Kaleb Drew Branch of Lancaster, SC and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Kathleen Driver, Pearl Driver Dixon and Juanita Driver Sweatt and two brothers, William “Bill” Driver and Clark Driver.
