Judith "Judy" Melton Hefner

Chester Mrs. Judith “Judy” Melton Hefner, 71, died Thursday, February 23, 2017, at her home.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Lando Church of God with Rev. Ed Harris officiating.Interment will follow in Lando Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, February 25, at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, SC. Mrs. Hefner was born August 22, 1945 in Chester, SC and was a daughter of the late Will Melton and Rose Leola Love Melton.She was a graduate of Chester County Schools and York Tech.Mrs. Hefner was retired from Springs Industries.She was a member of Lando Church of God where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was very active in the ministries of the church.Judy was also active in York County Council on Aging and the Golden Age Club. She is survived by her husband of more than 34 years, Carlton Dean “Pete” Hefner; two daughters, Michelle Whitfield (Doug) and Roseanne Olive both of Chester; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Harold Melton of Chester; and four sisters, Ethel Walls of Baltimore, Maryland, Lillie Friendly, Margaret Mobley and Dot Wattenburger all of Chester.Mrs. Hefner was preceded in death by three sisters, four brothers and one grandson.
