Joyce Catherine Reid Lindsey

Joyce Reid Lindsey, formerly of Cumming, GA, entered into heavenly rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by family at her home in Chester, SC on January 11, 2026.

She was born on March 16, 1954 in Chamblee, GA but called Cumming, GA home for most of her life. She moved to Chester, SC after surviving cancer in 2022. Joyce’s career spanned over 48 years in Medical Business Office Management and Accounting. She began her career as an admissions clerk at Lakeside Community Hospital as a teenager and proudly held other positions, including Controller, CFO, and Business Office Manager, before her retirement. She continued serving as a volunteer at Northside Hospital in Cumming, GA until she could no longer do so.

Joyce had a beautiful smile and a laugh that filled the room. She was fully committed to loving and caring for her children and grandchildren. As the mother of a son with Down syndrome, she spent countless hours advocating for rights and services for children and adults with special needs throughout her lifetime. She was gentle spirited like her own mama, and her compassion, wisdom, and kindness will always be remembered.

Joyce enjoyed listening to Pastor and Teacher Charles Stanley. She loved reading, solving puzzles, and taking care of her yard. Perhaps her favorite thing, though, was having friends and family around her table. The door to her home was always open, and she never let you leave hungry. Her written prayers reflect her love for God. She wrote to Him as a friend and trusted Jesus with the hard things she faced throughout life. But now, her race is run, and her work here is finished. She is free from pain, physical limitations brought on after cancer, and all sorrow has passed away as she has entered into the presence of Jesus, the One who has restored her to new life.

Joyce is survived by her children, Vic Lindsey of Statham, GA; Audrey Bryan (Alan) of Chester, SC; Kevin Lindsey (Janell) of Cumming, GA; Tanner Anderson (Richard) of Dawsonville, GA. Joyce was known to all as “Sweetie” and will be forever loved and remembered by her grandchildren, Tyson, Peyton, Hope, Charlie, Joshua, Caleb, and Luke, as well as by many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her mother and father, Grace and Pledger Reid; her brother, Mike Reid; her sisters, Wilda and Annette Reid; and her grandsons, Jacob Bryan and Payton Lindsey.

The family is currently planning a Celebration of Life Service in the Spring. More information to follow.
