Chester: Sara Joyce Clarkson, 76, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at Providence Hospital in Columbia, S.C. A funeral service will be held 6:00 PM Friday, February 18, 2011 at Barron Funeral Home with Reverend Harry Gindhart officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service. A private graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Grandview Cemetery in Maryville, TN. A native of Blount County, TN, she was born on March 25, 1934, to the late Thomas and Ellen Law of Maryville, TN.She was predeceased by her brother Ray Law.She graduated from Ft. Sanders School of Nursing, Ft. Sanders Hospital, Knoxville, TN, in 1954 and then received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Tennessee in 1956.She also received a Master?s degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C. After working for a year at the Chester County Hospital in 1967 as Nursing Coordinator, she took a position with the Chester County School District as Director of Instruction over the LPN program at the Chester County Career Center.After 30 years of dedicated service to the school district and the surrounding community, she decided to retire and enjoy some time with her husband and family.She was a long time member of Bethel United Methodist Church and a very active member in the Pete Wylie Sunday School class. She is survived by her husband, Paul Clarkson, her son, Michael Clarkson and his wife Della, of Rock Hill, her grandson, Paul William, of Rock Hill, her sister, Lillian Davis, of Maryville, TN, one niece, two nephews, one grand-niece, and four grand-nephews.
