Mrs. Josie Hudson McKibben, 91, died Monday, August 6, 2012 at Hospice of Charleston.A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Armenia United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Marion Clark officiating.The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Barron Funeral Home. Born April 24, 1921 in Chester, Mrs. McKibben was the daughter of the late Sam Joe Hudson and Alma Nora Robinson Hudson.She was a graduate of Fort Mill High School and Waldrep’s Beauty College and was retired from Campus Sportswear as a seamstress.She was a member of Armenia United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.An interesting fact about Mrs. McKibben was that during WWll she supported the war effort as a “powder girl”.These ladies worked in the Charlotte ammunition factory and were responsible for the gun powder that was contained in the shells. She is survived by one son, Thomas J. McKibben and his wife Pamela of Mt. Pleasant, SC and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband, Gerald D. “Butch” McKibben, Sr., Mrs. McKibben was preceded in death by one son, Gerald D. “Rusty” McKibben, Jr. Memorials may be made to Armenia United Methodist Church, 2840 Armenia Road, Chester, SC.
