Joseph Lamar Jones

Mr. Joseph Lamar Jones, 69, died Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Patrick Roddy officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Thursday, September 12, 2024 in the sanctuary of the church.

Mr. Jones was born June 23, 1955 in Chester, SC and was the son of the late Benjamin Joseph Jones and Jacqueline Bowers Jones. He was a graduate of Chester High School and York Technical College. He was retired from the US Postal Service as a diesel mechanic. Joey previously served on the Richburg Fire Department and was a member of Disaster Relief with the SC Baptist. Mr. Jones was a member of Harmony Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, choir member, and Sunday school teacher.

He is survived by his wife of over 47 years,  Cathy Ferguson Jones; one daughter, Katie Jo Jones Carter of Chester, SC; two grandchildren, Sarah Abigail Carter of Chester, SC and Benna Grace Carter of Chester, SC; one sister, Sue Jones Thompson (John) of Lowry’s, SC; one brother, Jimmy Jones (Janet) of Blackstock, SC; two nephews, Ben Thompson and Jacob Jones.
