Joe Hudson, 64, died Thursday July 10th from injuries sustained in a car accident. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday July 19th at Chester Freedom Ministries with Ronnie Kanipe officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Chester Freedom Ministries. Internment will be private.
Joe was born August 27,1960 in Charlotte, NC and was the son of the late JB Hudson Jr. and Joy Louise Lockey. He was a graduate of Chester Senior High School and the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. He was a member of Chester Freedom Ministries where he served as an usher.
Joe was a retired police officer having worked with the Chester City Police Department and the Chester County Sheriff's Office. Throughout his career, he worked as a patrolman, as well as a High School resource officer and within the family court system.
He Had a passion for gardening and was well known for his Joe-maters. He also loved to boil peanuts, giving them away and donating them to the CHS Band Booster Club while his children were part of the marching band. But most of all he loved being Pa-Joe to his six grandchildren never missing a school function or sporting event.
Joe is survived by two sons; Tyler Hudson (Jenna) of Edgemoor, and Michael Hudson (Bethany) of Chester. Six grandchildren; Carter, Abel, and Memphis Hudson of Edgemoor. DJ Bennett, Izabella and Whitley Hudson of Chester. One sister, Sally Hudson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Vic Hudson.
