Johnny Webster Thompson, Jr.

John Webster Thompson, Jr., 72, died Sunday, September 7, 2025, at MUSC Health Chester Nursing Center.  All services will be private.

Born September 13, 1952 in Charlotte, NC, John was a son of the late John Webster Thompson, Sr. and Sarah Hough Fulk.  He was a graduate of Garinger High School in Charlotte, NC and retired from U.S.P.S. after more than 40 years of service.  He also operated his own gutter cleaning service.  John was a member of First Baptist Church Lowry's where he served the church well.  He was a former deacon and was always excited about being a part of mission trips that might be available.  John loved his Lord Jesus Christ.

In addition to his mother and father, John is preceded in death by his stepfather, James Fulk; a brother, Gary K. Thompson; his mother and father-in-law, Jackie and Ben Jones; and a brother-in-law, Joey Jones.

He is survived by his wife of over 42 years, Sue Jones Thompson; one son, Ben Thompson, (Lindsay) of Gastonia, NC; three nieces, Katie Carter, Carey Smith and Jennifer Miller; one nephew, Jacob Jones; brother-in-law, Jimmy Jones (Janet) of Blackstock, SC; and two sisters-in-law, Cathy Jones of Richburg, SC and Sondra Fulk.
