Chester, SC: Mr. Johnny Harold Thomas, 85, died Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC.The family will receive friends immediately following the committal in the fellowship Hall of the church and other times at the home.The funeral service will be 5:00 PM Monday, August 14, 2017 at New Hope United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery with full Military Honors.Reverend Paige Wheeler and Reverend Chris Snelgrove will be the officiating ministers. Born June 13, 1932 in Chester, SC, Mr. Thomas was a son of the late Calvin M. Thomas and Annette Gregory Thomas.He was a graduate of Chester High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean Conflict.He was retired owner and operator of Lockhart Barber Shop in Lockhart, SC and was an avid and accomplished woodworker.Mr. Thomas was member of New Hope United Methodist Church and the widower of his wife of over fifty years, Laura McKinney Thomas.He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Marion, Frank, Dean and Bud Thomas. He is survived by one daughter, Ann Thomas Grant (Stewart) of Chester, SC; one son, Michael A. Thomas (Lori) of Rock Hill, SC; eight grandchildren, Katie, Richie, Kris, Ashleyanne,Triston, Josh, James and Jacob;six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
