Chester Mr. Johnny Lewis Hunter, Jr., 63, died Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at his home.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 14, 2014, at Barron FuneralHome with Mr. Cooney Wishert officiating.Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 13, at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, SC. Mr. Hunter was born June 16, 1951 in York County, SC and was a son of the late John Lewis “Bud” Hunter, Sr. and Margaret “Mutt” GibsonHunter.He attended the schools of Rock Hill and was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served with the 1st Air Calvary in Vietnam.He retired after 23 years of service from American Truetzschler.On September 11, 2002, Johnny became the first Chester County recipient for the “Hero Award” given by Carolinas Medical Center.He was a member of the Chester County Rescue Squad for over ten years and was awarded “Rescuer of the Year”.Johnny was an avid NASCAR fan and also a shark tooth hunter.He was of the Methodist faith. He is survived by his wife of over 39 years, Joyce Lee Pearson Hunter; one daughter, Charlene Mims (Ernest) of Chester; one son, John Lewis “Trey” Hunter, III (Shannon) of Chester; seven grandchildren, Bubba, Josh, Brandon, Beth, Makayla, Kylie, and Kiersten; five great-grandchildren, Carley, Gracie, Aubree, Lexie, and Alex; and two sisters, Donna Hunter Ratterree of Rock Hill and Sandra Hunter Smith of Anniston, Ala.Mr. Hunter was preceded in death by two brothers, Mike Hunter and Randy Hunter.
