CHESTER Mrs. Johnnie Grant Page, 85, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at Bethel United Methodist Church with Reverend Harry Gindhart officiating.The interment will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am Friday at Bethel United Methodist Church. Born October 22, 1926 in Knox Station, Chester County, Mrs. Page was the daughter of the late Major Johnson Grant and Emma Knox Grant.She was graduated from Oakley Hall High School in Rodman.She was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she was secretary of the Adult Fellowship Sunday School Class for many years and also has served on the Board of Trustees.She was a member of ?Bethel Lights?, the church?s Senior Group and was also a member of Leroy Springs Golden Age Club.She was retired from the Chester Telephone Company after more than fifty years of service. She is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, James Earl Page; one daughter, Earline Page Melchior and husband Georgeof Lake Wylie, SC; three grandsons, George William Melchior, III and wife Tracey of Portsmouth, NH, James Ryland Melchior and John Trevett Melchior both of Winston Salem, NC; one great grandson, Finnegan Reed Melchior; one sister, Estelle Grant Gibson of Columbia, SC.She was preceded in death by three brothers, former SC State Senator Wilbur Grant, Major Johnson Grant, Jr. and Jesse W. Grant and five sisters, Mary E. Grant Garrison, Sara Grant McDill, Grace Grant Ray, Hazzie Grant Perry, and Seppie Grant Robbins.
