John Pierce McKeown, 80, died Thursday, August 13, 2026, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Tabernacle Ministries with Rev. Roger Roof, Rev. Kenneth Compton and Evangelist Gavin Tessnear officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Chester, SC. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM Tuesday at Tabernacle Ministries.
Born December 31, 1945 in Chester, SC, he was a son of the late Harvey Coleman McKeown and Roselle Jackson McKeown. He attended the schools of Chester County, SC and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the SC Air National Guard. Johnny retired as a truck driver after more than 65 years. He was a member of Together As One Church.
Johnny enjoyed watching his grandsons play baseball and he love NASCAR racing. At one time, he raced lawn mowers. He was also a fan of auctions as a buyer and seller. Johnny was a family man and enjoyed providing for his family and many times for those that were not his family. He drove the delivery vehicle for the annual Thanksgiving Feed Chester Project.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa McKeown Burelll (Gentry) and Brandi McKeown Lindsey (Todd) both of Chester; seven grandchildren, Jake McKeown (Lauren), Brent Burrell (Kayla), Luke Burrell (Aaliuah) Jasmin Lindsey, Lainey Lindsey (Conner), Tiffany Burrell and Dave Burrell; 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Annette McKeown Roten; brothers-in-law, Dean Lindsey (Pauline), Billy Ramsey (Patricia) and Kenneth Ramsey; sisters-in-law, Trish Jennings, Judy Ramsey and Sharon Ramsey; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his wife of over 55 years, Elaine Lindsey McKeown; a grandson, Liam McKeown; and brothers, Coleman McKeown and Marion McKeown.
