Chester, SC:Mr. John Montgomery Little, III, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Chester Regional Medical Center.A graveside service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Chester Memorial Gardens with Dr. Dwight Pearson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM Sunday at Barron Funeral Home. Mr. Little was born in Union County, SC on December 9, 1932. He was a son of the late John M. Little, Jr. and Ruby Westbrook Little. Mr. Little was a graduate of Union High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy fromClemson College in 1954 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.He was a South Carolina Certified General Appraiser #2 and spent the early years of his career as Chester County Tax Assessor during which time he implemented a tax mapping/ assessment program. Mr. Little was past president of the South Carolina Association of Assessing Officials and served on the Appraisal Standards, Education and Legislative Study Committee. He served three years as Administrative Assistant to Congressman Tom S. Gettys, Fifth District of South Carolina. Mr. Little was alicensed real estate broker and appraiser for South Carolina having served as chairman of South Carolina Real Estate Appraisal Board from July 1992 until March 1997. He also had extensive experience in residential construction. Mr. Little is survived by his wife, Ida Ruff Stone Little;one son, DuPre Lyles Little and one grandson, Cole Little,both of Anderson, SC and two nieces.
