John "Jack" Anthony Cabrey

John Anthony Cabrey (Jack) went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 12, 2026, surrounded by his family. Jack was the son of John J. Cabrey and Edna M. Cabrey, and was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 2, 1941. He is survived by his wonderful wife, Brenda McKeown Cabrey, his twin sister Patricia Ann Cabrey of Bridgeville, PA, his brother Peter Raymond Cabrey (Neung) of Rayong, Thailand, his sons Brian Joseph Cabrey (Jennifer) of Jacksonville, FL, and Michael Sean Cabrey (Tracey), of Atlanta, GA, and his stepdaughter, Julie Goodyear Hill (Benji) of Beaufort, SC. Jack had eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He loved being "PopPop". He was preceded in death by his sisterc Mary Louise Cabrey and his stepson, John Madison Goodyear.

Jack was raised on a farm in Malvern, PA, and graduated from Lower Marion High School in Ardmore, PA. He attended Belmont Abbey College and graduated from Kings College in Wilkes Barre, PA. He was a member of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity and did graduate work in finance at Dartmouth College. After college, Jack served in the US Navy from 1963- 1968 with a final rank of Lieutenant.

In 1968, Jack joined Sun Chemicals (Sequa Corp) and spent 30 years traveling and working his way through the company in various leadership roles. In 1985, he was promoted to President of the Chemicals Division in Chester, SC, where he remained until the company was sold in 1998. In 2000, Jack accepted the role of President and Chief Operating Officer for the Colors Corporation until his retirement in 2002.

During his years in Chester, Jack was very involved with his community. Jack was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church and was proud to be certified as a Lay Speaker. He served as Chairman of the Chester County Chamber of Commerce, leader of the Chester Chapter of the American Red Cross, as President of the York Technical College Foundation Board, Chairman of the Chester County Communities in Schools Program, and a member of the Governor’s Council for Workforce Excellence. He loved Chester. Every Christmas he took his role as Santa Claus very seriously, bringing joy to area children and his family. He spent his youth in Chester County, PA and his later years in Chester County, SC. He used to say that God wanted him in Chester County somewhere, he just wasn’t sure where.

In 2019 Jack and Brenda retired to Beaufort, SC to enjoy the quiet life on the Beaufort River, joining the Carteret Street United Methodist Church. He will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious laugh, and fierce love for his family, his dog, and his community. His laugh always lit up every room he entered. He lived an incredibly rich life.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, April 17, at 12:00 pm at Bethel United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
