John William Hurst

Mr. John William Hurst, 81, of 588 Penn Lake Drive died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at his residence. A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend Joanne Lockard- Hawkins officiating. Interment will be in Chester Memorial Gardens. A native of Hartsville, SC, Mr. Hurst was born February 20, 1928 a son of the late Bennie Redman Hurst and Glennie Dority Hurst. He attended the schools of Chester County, was a U.S.Navy Veteran and attended Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a Gamecock Fan,an avid golfer,was retired form Springs Industries as Superintendent of the Preparation Department and was the widower of Betty Lucille Hollifield Hurst. Surviving are three daughters, Linda Reynolds and her husband Larry,Carolyn Wessinger and her husband George and Debbie Henson all of Chester, SC, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mary Robinson of Chester, SC and Barbara Lee of Foley, AL.Mr. Hurst was preceded in death by a son Johnny Hurst. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Wesley Memorial United Church 1217 J.A.
