John Wayne Dubose

Mr. John Wayne Dubose, 81, died Friday, August 6, 2021 at his home. The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Parkway Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Dorsey and Rev. Jonathan Pannell officiating.The interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 PM Monday, August 9, at Barron Funeral Home. Born in Kingstree, South Carolina, Mr. Dubose was the son of the late Robert James and Lena Mae Wise Dubose.He was a graduate of Chester High School and also the Police Academy in Albany, New York.He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army having served during Vietnam.His military friends nicknamed him “The Duke”. He was also retired from Phillips Industries and also worked with Catawba Work Release. Mr. Dubose was a member of Parkway Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and a choir member. He is survived by his wife of over fifty-five years, Bernadette Aubry Dubose; two children, Charlette Branham (John Allen)and Dalida Mae Dubose both of Chester, SC; four grandchildren, John Mitchell Branham (Amanda) of Lockhart, SC, Kimberly Branham (Travis) of Great Falls, SC, Christy Revis (D.J.) of Chester, SC and Joshua Revis (Jescica) of Lancaster, SC; nine great grandchildren, Tristian, Caidence, Maddie, Averie, Daphne, Kristen, Gabe, June and Elsie; one brother, Bill Dubose (Marty) of Rock Hill, SC; one sister, Shirley Robinson of Richburg, SC; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog “Colleen”. He was preceded in death by two brothers Jimmy and Robert Lee "Rover" Dubose and six sisters, Nellie Ruth Dubose, Judy Miller, Carolyn Dubose, Gwendyl Hart, Shelby Jean Kinsey and Janice Gregory. The family would like to offer a heartfelt thanks to Riverview Hospice and Palliative Care and also Patricia Brown, his personal caregiver.
