Chester Mr. John Richard Burton, 88, died Monday, October 20, 2014.A gathering for family and friends will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Thursday, October 23, 2014, at the home of Buddy and Sara Pearson, 602 Summersby St., Chester, SC.Interment will be private. Born October 10, 1926 in York, SC, he was the son of the late Andrew Edward Burton and Rosa Smart Burton.Mr. Burton attended the schools of York County and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.and worked in lawn care and cooked for several establishments in the area. He is survived by one brother, Otis Burton of Chester; three granddaughters, Sonya Pearson (John) of Carlisle, Bettyjean Allen (Shawn) of Charleston, and Nevey Hodgin of Marion Ohio; and seven great-grandchildren.Mr. Burton was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Nelson Burton; one son, Richard “Ricky” Burton; one daughter, Glenda Lane; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; brothers, Meek, Glenn, Jim, Bill and Joe; and a sister, Mabel.
