John Thompson Boyd

Mr. John Thompson Boyd, 76, died Saturday , August 26, 2023. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Fowler and Pastor Warren Forster officiating. Interment will follow at Chester Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, September 1, 2023 at Barron Funeral Home and other times at the home Mandy and Joe Campbell. Mr. Boyd was born June 2, 1947 in Chester, SC and was a son of the late Robert Aaron Boyd and Mary Elizabeth Orr Boyd. He attended the schools of Chester County and was a Veteran of the US Army and retired from the South Carolina Army National Guard. Mr. Boyd was a member of West Side Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and bus driver and also a leader with the senior group. Mr. Boyd was retired from Celanese Corporation after over twenty-five years of service. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife Diana Starnes Boyd. He is survived by one daughter, Mandy Campbell (Joe) of McConnell's, SC; two grandchildren, Jessica Campbell and Christopher Campbell both of McConnell's SC; two brothers, Robert P, Boyd of Chester, SC and Cyrus W. Boyd (Sue) of Winnsboro, SC; two sisters, Francis Ussery of Tampa, FL and Mary Helen Funderburk (Hazel) of Great Falls, SC and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Arlene Boyd.
