Chester, SC Mr. Joel Stanley Winchester, the gentle giant, 59, died Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Chester Regional Medical Center.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Chapman and Rev. Nate Magloughlin officiating.Interment will follow at the property of Beverly and Joel Winchester.The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Barron Funeral Home. Born March 21, 1958 in Chester, SC, he was a son of Martha Tallent Winchester Campbell and the late Richard Winchester. Mr. Winchester was a graduate of Chester High School and York Technical College and was employed with Siemens of Charlotte, NC.He was a member of Westside Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and was a former deacon.Most of all, Joel loved his Lord and his family.Next to God, Joel loved Beverly with all of his heart.They were always together.He enjoyed farming, which included his sheep and cows.A good way to describe Joel wasa “Devout Christian,” “A Loving Father,” and “A Very Caring Man.” Mr. Winchester is survived by his wife of over 41 years, Beverly Vess Winchester; his mother, Martha Tallent Winchester Campbelland her husband Allenof Chester, SC; two daughters, Melissa Farrand and husband D.J. of Chester, SC and Kristen Commander and her husband Jason of Chester, SC; his sister-in-law whom Joel considered his daughter, Suzanne Roderick and her husband Jeremy of Fort Mill, SC; eleven grandchildren, Trevor, Dillyah, Irie, Zane, August, Essere, Emma, Obi, Baylee, Annemarie and Kensington; one sister, Julie Winchester McLamb and her husband Paul of McConnells, SC; brother-in-law, Buddy D. Vess of Rock Hill, SC; mother-in-law, Geraldine “MaMa Dean” Moon Waters of Rock Hill, SC; Brandon Talbert, whom Joel loved and mentored of Chester, SC; one step-brother, Joe Campbell (Mandy) of McConnells, SC; three step-sisters, Terri Campbell of New Tazewell, TN, Debra Lanning of New Tezewell, TN and Jane Hunt and her husband Joel of Florida; three nieces, Victoria, Megan and Alyssa; and three nephews, David, Andrew, and Sev.
