CHESTER Mr. Joe Lewis Williford, Jr, 78, died Saturday, February 6, 2010 at his elder son?s residence. The funeral will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Shetley and Rev. Reggie Parker officiating.Interment will be in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Born August 24, 1931 in Lando, SC, Mr. Williford was the son of the late Joe Lewis Williford, Sr and Margaret Louise ?Lula? Rockholt Williford.He attended the schools of Chester County he was retired from Springs Industries as a card fixer and a member of the Springs 25 Year Club.He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War having received a Purple Heart.He was a volunteer fireman for West Chester Fire Department and a member of Sandy River Masonic Lodge #207 and Hejaz Shrine.He was instrumental in the formation of Boy Scout Troop 99 and also a Troop Leader.He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and a lifetime trustee and a member of several committees. Surviving are two sons, Robert D. Williford and his wife Marie of Chester and Russell L. Williford and his wife Teresa of Lowry, SC; one daughter, Shirley W. Hall and her husband Mike of Chester, SC; Daughter-in-law, Eunice E. ?Libby? Williford of Great Falls, SC; six grandchildren; five great greadchildren; one brother, William ?Pete? Weatherford of Rock Hill, SC.He was preceded in death by a son Ricky E. Williford, Sr, a grandson, Darren Andrew Williford and a sister Pauline McNeal. The family will receive friends from 6:00 ? 8:00 PM Tuesday at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie Street, Chester.
