Joe D. Chitwood

Mr. Joe D. Chitwood, 67, of1202 Radcliff Road gently passed away Saturday, February 7, 2009 at home surrounded by his loving family after his courageousbattle with cancer. The Funeral Service will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Nazarene Church with the Rev. Jerry Devinney and Rev. John Porter officiating. Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens Mr. Chitwood was born January 30, 1942 in Lavonia, GA., a son of the late, Bee Hiley, Sr. and Lula Vaughn Chitwood.He was a member of the Chester Masonic Lodge A.F.M. #18 and enjoyed Clemson football, NASCAR racing and deep sea fishing. Surviving are his wife, Irma H. Chitwood; daughter, Barbara C. Strait and husband Jimmy of Rock Hill, SC; sons, James ?Jimmy? D. Chitwood and wife, Jackie of Lancaster, SC, Kenneth W. Dallas, and fiancé, Wanda McCarley of Chester, SC and Dewey Lynn of Gastonia, NC.; sisters, Mary Frances Pruitt of Gastonia, NC; brothers Bee Hiley Chitwood, Jr. of Lincolnton, NC, and Edward ?Ed? Chitwood of Dallas, NC, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren Mr. Chitwood was pre-deceased by daughter, Jane Ellen Chitwood; brothers, Charlie Chitwood and Dewey Marshall Chitwod; and sister, Darthey ?Dot? White The family will receive friends, from 6:00 until 9:00 pm Monday at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie Street, Chester, SC 29706.
