CARLISLE? Jimmie Gene Gregory, 80, died Thursday, January 7, 2010, at his residence. A funeral service will be 3:00PM Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. David Sealy and Rev. Irvin Plowden Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Born November 6, 1929, in Chester, SC, a son of the late Benjamin Howe Sr. and Carrie Carter Gregory. He retired from Springs Mills after forty three years as a loom fixer. He was a veteran of the Army during the Korean War, where he served thirteen months in France. He was with the Boy Scouts for over twenty five years, where he served as Assistant Master and Scout Master. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a ordained deacon. Surviving are his wife of fifty-four years Emily E. Gregory, one son Wayne Gregory and wife Pat of Carlisle, one daughter Patricia Gregory-Bates and husband Skip of Chester, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two infant daughters and a brother Howe Gregory Jr. A special brother-inlaw Ainsley Estes. The family will receive friends Saturday January 9, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00PM at Barron Funeral Home 133 Wylie Street Chester, SC.
