SPARTANBURG, SC Mrs. Jewell White Logan, 88, died on September 19, 2013 at Summit Hills Retirement Community in Spartanburg, SC, where she had resided for the past five years.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Chester Memorial Gardens, 945 West End Road, Chester, SC 29706 with Rev. Michael Shaffer and Rev. Andy Logan officiating.The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside. Mrs. Logan was born on September 7, 1925 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Joseph Curtis White and Dovie Costner White.She was one of ten siblings reared by her parents in Casar, NC. Mrs. Logan was the widow of Adron Houser Logan, to whom she was married for sixty-four years.Chester, SC was where they chose to live and rear their six children.Mrs. Logan partnered with her husband in developing and managing a successful farming operation. Jewell Logan will be remembered first and foremost as an exemplary mother and a nurturing spirit to those who entered her realm of influence.Her noted personality traits, kindness and appreciation, remained with her throughout life.She was resourceful, creative, enduring and selfless. Mrs. Logan is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Andrew Steve Logan of Rock Hill, SC, Charles Adron Logan of Columbia, SC and Joseph Franklin Logan (Elvessa Aragon) of Apex, NC; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail Logan Robinson (Thomas L.) of Spartanburg and Joy Logan Connelly (Robert A., Jr.) of Spartanburg; and son-in-law, Russell Joseph Ruggieri of Watkinsville, GA.She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Brain Andrew Logan, Amy Robinson Davenport, Daphne Robinson Petros, Charles Taylor Logan, Lindsay Michelle Logan, Christopher Logan Connelly, Robert Cameron Connelly, Joseph Brian Ruggieri, Rebecca Logan Ruggieri, Isabella Grace Aragon Logan and Benjamin Tyler Aragon Logan; and seven grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, David Lynn Logan, and a cherished daughter, Vicki Logan Ruggieri.Being the last surviving member of her immediate family, Mrs. Logan was preceded in death by three brothers, Theodore A. White, Woodrow Wilson White and Joseph Paul White; and six sisters, Thelma White Tillman, Edith White Price, Virginia White Self, Pauline White Downs, Irene White Downs and Joan White Short. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Lowrys, 3981 Armenia Road, Chester, SC 29706 “Syah Team” for the purpose of continuing their outreach and support to the shut-ins of our community.
