CHESTERMrs. Jessie Colvin Anderson, 82 died on October 17, 2011 at the Chester Hospital surrounded by her family.The family will receive friends from 6:008:00 pm Wednesday,October 19, 2011 at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie Street, Chester.A celebration of life service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Chester at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2011 with the Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery.A native of Chester, SC, Jessie was the daughter of the late Jake andBernice Barr Colvin.She was a 1946 graduate of Chester High School and a 1950 graduate of Erskine College. She taught in the public school system for thirty years. She is survived by her best friend and loving husband of 61 years Chick Anderson; two daughters, Beth Branham of Lexington and Robbie Tweito and her husband Andy of Six Mile, SC; two sons, Robert and his wife Rebecca of Laurens and Jimmy and his wife Shelli of Fort Mill, SC; six grandchildren;three great grandchildren and one brother,Penn Colvin and his wife Ann.Jessie was preceded in death by a sister Bernice Meredith and a brother Jake S. Colvin, Jr.Jessie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chester where she was actively involved in the Agoga Sunday School class,a former leader of the Nancy Carroll Circle, formerly taught children's Sunday School classes and was a member of the Women's Missionary Union, the hand bell group, and a volunteer with Kids Club at First Baptist.She participated in and served as secretary of the Jaycettes and was selected as Young Woman of the Year in Chester in 1963.Jessie was an avid Clemson fan.Through her love and care for others, Jessie touched and made a difference in the lives of many.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 518, Chester, SC 29706.Online condolences for the family can be made at www.barronfuneralhome.com.
