Chester Mr. Jerry Edward Greenwood, Jr., 79, died Saturday, January 16, 2016, at the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, SC.Funeral services with Masonic rites and full military honors will be held at 2:00 Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. David Sealy officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM on Tuesday in the sanctuary of the church. Mr. Greenwood was born September 22, 1936 in Lafayette, Georgia and was a son of the late Jerry E. Greenwood, Sr. and Rosa Bell Helton Greenwood.He was a graduate of Chester High School and York Technical College.Mr. Greenwood was a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean War, the Cuban missile crisis and during Vietnam and was also retired from Superior Essex.He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Joyce Crenshaw Greenwood; two daughters, Brenda L. Wilks of Chester and Jan L. Miller (Dennis) of Tega Cay; one son, Jerry Greenwood, III (Noelle) of Chester; five grandchildren, Jason Wilks (Tonya), Paige McKeown (J.), Jennifer Fling (Chuck), Justin Miller and Jared Miller; nine great grandchildren, J. Wriley McKeown, Jr., Wyatt Fling, Emma Kate McKeown, Georgia Fling, Davis Miller, Ford McKeown, Caroline Wilks, John Crawford Wilks, and Levi Wilks; and two brothers, Larry Greenwood and Ronnie Greenwood both of Chester.Mr. Greenwood was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Bearden and Lola Coleman.
