Chester: Lillie Jean Dawkins Wright died on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, S.C. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 19th 2017 at First Baptist Church Chester. The family will receive friends Wednesday April 19th 2017 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the vestibule of the church. Interment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Chester. Born February 12, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Blanche Morton and James Delaney Dawkins and a life-long resident of Chester, S.C.She graduated from Chester High School in 1947 and attended Winthrop College. Jean retired as secretary of the Chester County Farm Bureau after many years of service.She was a member of First Baptist Church of Chester and served as a teacher for children, youth, and adults and was a member of the Adult and Handbell Choirs.Mrs. Wright also served as a group leader for the Bereavement Committeeand was active in WMU andnumerous committees within the churchShe was supportive of Scouting,having served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and “mother” to many Scouts of Troop 64 through the years. Jean enjoyed knitting and crocheting, making many blankets for newborns and for her family and many friends.She was an active bridge player and participated for many years in the Diversity Study Club. Jean was an avid Clemson fan who enjoyed tailgating at games with family and friends of all ages.She and Frankenjoyed travelingthroughout the country and especially to the beach and mountains. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: William Delaney Dawkins, Harold Dale Dawkins, and “Butch” Dawkins and nephew Michael Dawkins.She is survived by her husband of nearly 67 years, Frank Lloyd Wright; her sons: William Frank Wright (Terri Atkinson)of Ridgeway, S.C., Harold Edward Wright (Kathy) of Camden, S.C., and Jody Chapman Wright (Deborah) of Rocky Mount, N.C.; four grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
