Janice Kay Aldridge Compton

Chester Mrs. Janice Kay Aldridge Compton, 77, died Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Piedmont Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Tabernacle Ministries, Great Falls, SC, with Rev. Kenneth Compton, Rev. Chuck Evans and Rev. Roger Roof officiating. Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 6, at Barron Funeral Home in Chester, SC. Born August 6, 1946 in Rock Hill, SC, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Clarence Aldridge and Pearl Ovada Brown Aldridge. She attended Lewisville High School and graduated through the GED program. Janice was a homemaker. She was a member of Tabernacle Ministries where she was actively involved in the school, leading the Praise and Worship team and also taught Children’s Church. Janice was also a member of the “Heaven Bound Sisters” singing ministry. She is survived by her husband of over 61 years, Bobby Lamar Compton; four children, Barbara Compton of Chester, Sherrie Robinson (Dave) of Fort Mill, Bobby L. Compton, II (Lisa) of Thomasville, NC and Christie Redmond (Tom) of Chester; ten grandchildren, Brian, Stephen, Lil Charlie, Megan, Blakelyn, Dell, Kelsey, Brittany, Tripp and Olivia; nine great grandchildren, Kaylee, Ben, Jacob, Peyton, Chance, Coree, Gabe, Ember and Riley; two brothers, Walt Aldridge of Memphis, TN and Ricky Aldridge of Chester; two sisters, Kathy Drennan (Banks) and Terri Aldridge both of Richburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by a daughter, Erin C. Baker; two grandchildren, Michael Stevenson and Riley Compton; two brothers, Jesse Lee Aldridge and Donald Clarence “Donnie” Aldridge; and a sister, Judy Mullinax.
