Chester Mr. James Allen Owens, 71, died Sunday, February 19, 2017, at his home.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Green officiating.Interment will be private.The family will receive friends anytime at the home of his daughter, Sherri Owens, 857 Grove Park Dr., Richburg, SC. Mr. Owens was born January 7, 1946 in Lake City, SC and was a son of the late Willie Owens and Clara Mae McElveen Owens.He attended the schools of York, SC and was retired from Zenith Engraving.Mr. Owens loved hunting and fishing and college and pro football. He is survived by his wife of more than 37 years, Janice Varnadore Owens; one daughter, Sherri Owens of Richburg; one stepson, Joseph Price (Sherri) of Chester; one stepdaughter, Denise Morrison of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Billy Price of Chester, Stephanie Riggins of Clemson, Emma Owens of Richburg, Joe Bianco of Chester and Josie Price of Chester; three great grandchildren, Drake Price of Blackstock, and Jayden Benson and Aubree Benson both of Clemson; two step great grandchildren, Allison West and Kaitlyn West both of Chester; one sister, Peggy Mellon of York; and numerous nieces and nephews.Mr. Owens was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Owens and three brothers, Ray, Dickie and Al Owens.
