Mr. James William “Jimmy”Overby, 79, died Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville, NC.The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Lando Church of God with Reverend Ed Harris officiating.The interment will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Lando Church of God. Born December 2, 1935 in Chester County, SC, Mr. Overby was the son of the late Gaston and Willie Hefner Overby.He was a graduate of Lewisville High School where he played football, basketball and baseball.Jimmy was retired with the Leroy Springs Company as superintendent of the Chester Golf CourseAfter his retirement he built his own golf course, Edgemoor Par 3 and was very active with the Lando Museum. He was a member of the Lando Church of God. He is survived by his wife of over 31 years, Ann Main Overby; one daughter, Linda Overby Hinson of Chester, SC; one son, Stan Overby and his wife Karin of Greenville, SC; one step-daughter, Holly Eury and her husband David of Clover, SC; one step-son, Stacy Main of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren, Joann Grant and her husband Brian of Chester, SC, Jimmy Hinson and wife Janelle of Lexington, SC, Joshua Eury of Clover, SC, Riley Main of Charleston, SC and Courtney Overby and Katelyn Overby both of Greenville, SC; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Diane Overby Wilson and her husband Tommy and Myra Overby Smith both of Lugoff, SC.
