James A. "Doc" Mcmahan

Chester Mr. James Alfred “Doc” McMahan, 86, died Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 9, in the sanctuary at Liberty Baptist Church, 1542 Liberty Rd., Chester, SC. Mr. McMahan was born May 27, 1934 in York County, SC and was a son of the late Willard S. McMahan and Naomi Rutledge Melton.He attended the schools of Chester county and was a veteran of the U.S. Marines.He was retired from McKenzie Truck Lines.“Doc” enjoyed working on cars.He was a family man.He loved his family and his dog, Carolina. He is survived by two daughters, Hazel Bagley (Nathan) and Mary Ann Johnson (Artie) both of Chester; nine grandchildren, Alicia, Kristy, Tabatha, Ray, Karen, Cindy, Melissa, Michelle and Jackie; 18 great grandchildren; two brothers, Joe McMahan (Ann) of Chester and Wes McMahan (Hazel) of York; two sisters, Ann Craig of Chester and Hazel McWatters of Richburg; a daughter-in-law, Carla Smith of Flint, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.Mr. McMahan was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred JoAnne “Jody” Hodge McMahan; one son, Ron Smith; and one sister, Rachel Pitts.
